Using SlideShare for Marketing and Branding

by Susan Gunelius on December 5th, 2007

slideshare.gifToday’s post is more of a request for opinions from Brandcurve’s readers.  I have yet to use SlideShare, which is a social networking tool that allows users to post and share presentations online.  It’s free to join, and according to the SlideShare FAQ page, “users can upload PowerPoint, OpenOffice, Keynote or PDF files, tag them, embed them into your blog or website, browse others’ presentations, and comment on individual slides. What’s more, the transcripts of your presentation will be indexed by internet search engines and show up in search results.”

Users can upload slideshows or presentations and allow them to be viewed by anyone or mark them to be visible only to certain people or groups within the SlideShare network.  Users can also create a Slidecast, which synchronizes music from mp3s to the presentation.  SlideShare can also be accessed through Facebook.

I can think of many uses for marketing a business or personal brand, product or website through SlideShare from teleconferences to posting on a blog and many stops in between.  What do you think?  Have you tried SlideShare yet?  How have you used it?  Please leave a comment and share your opinions about SlideShare.
