Star Trek the Experience Closing in Vegas
It’s the end of an era for a popular brand extension - Star Trek the Experience. The interactive attraction at the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas will close in September after a 10-year run. Despite a new Star Trek movie coming in 2009, the powers that be behind Star Trek the Experience think they can make more money using the space allotted to Star Trek the Experience for something else.
The Star Trek brand remains strong and popular, and the closing Star Trek the Experience won’t affect the annual Star Trek convention held at the Las Vegas Hilton.
Negotiations between CBS, who licenses the Star Trek brand, and Cedar Fair who owns Star Trek the Experience failed to keep the attraction alive. However, all hope is not lost for die-hard Trekkies. CBS is not throwing in the towel yet and hints that other options are being explored to keep Star Trek the Experience alive in some form.
I’m sure they’ll find a way. What do you think?

If they can’t save the attraction, I’ll have to take a page out of this guy’s book and turn my living room into a starship bridge:

Of course, this guy eventually went broke trying to market his “24th century” interior design with this flat as a showroom, but it certainly looks cool.
