Though not extremely shocking or surprising for most of us. MediaNews Daily just published some what of articles pointing out -good- fingers towards several industries Marketer of the Year. It’s somewhat like an award, I guess.
Automotive Marketer of the Year : Though not extremely shocking or surprising for most of us. MediaNews Daily just published some what of articles pointing out -good- fingers towards several industries Marketer of the Year. It’s somewhat like an award, I guess.
Automotive Marketer of the Year : TOYOTA
For me it was one of those: “I hadn’t thought of it, but now that you mention it…” moments. Toyota has done a more than decent job marketing their vehicles this year. They have made use of non-traditional media channels to get their message across.
Restaurant Marketer of the Year: MCDONALDS
Rather obvious choice if you come think of it. McDonald’s have been doing good marketing, whether we personally like it or not for several years now. It seems to me they have a special focus on adapting to new lifestyles and habits. They have done an amazing job in the consumer reach out area.
Retail Marketer of the Year: TARGET
Target is one of those brands that have been tagged as “up and coming” for quite some while now. They are finally making it. Target has made it a true objective to really focus on customer touchpoints. Proof of it are their -almost- 2000 stores. This year specifically, they got a little help from their strongest competitor (Walmart) and their PR/Marketing fiasco event we all love to remember. Let’s see how well they perform on the ‘07.
Drum Roll….and the MARKETER OF THE YEAR AWARD GOES TO: APPLE

Of course, it couldn’t be no one else! They won fair and square and with a big standing ovation. Apple has make marketing the lifeblood of their business. The way it should be. They have not only researched what humans and consumers are all about, but they have actually gotten it right! For once, we’re seeing a company that actually cares about their consumers needs and wants. They are creative, innovative, quality standard leaders, and -at least this past year- they kind of made the world go ’round.
And it seems they’re not slowing down. Actually, they’re making a bold promise (and as we all know they usually keep and exceed their brand promises): “The first 30 years were just the beginning”. I can’t wait to see what those guys will come up on 2007. In what is going to be a tough competing year for the hi-tech industry, if they keep on delivering on what they promise, and striving for excellence, they might just get the top spot again. Good Luck!
