Compaq Unveils New Logo
Compaq’s logo has gotten a facelift. The revamped logo still simply displays the company name in a red color. Rather than a bold, italicized font, the new logo uses a more mechanical typeface. In fact, when I first looked at it, I thought I was in the movie WarGames (”Shall we play a game?”).
Here’s the old logo:

And here’s the new logo:

What do you think about the new Compaq logo? I’m not sold on it yet. It seems old and outdated. Am I being too hard on the new logo? What do you like or dislike about it?

Actually, they haven’t launched the logo on all of their websites internationally yet. I’m curious to hear people’s opinions on the new logo more so than when it was launched. What do you think, Tony? Do you like it? Was the change worth the investment in time and money?

I don’t like as much as the old one. I do like the typeface for the name better. But overall I prefer the old logo. What I like about the old is that is a cleaner look. That’s my two cents.

It’s too retro for me. I think if you’re a company in the technology industry that you should focus on a logo that’s more futuristic than old fashion.
Susan that’s funny you mentioned Wargames. Last night I saw the movie. It’s OnDemand right now.
The movie made me think about how advance it was for the time it came out.

The old one was an average 80’s logo. The new one is an average 00’s logo. Why do they try to look so average?
Anyway, I miss the old “Q”.
